Michael Favala Goldman is a translator of Danish literature, a poet and a jazz clarinetist. Over 140 of Michael's translations have appeared in journals such as The Harvard Review, World Literature Today, The International Poetry Review and The Columbia Journal. He has translated 16 books of Danish poetry and prose, including two volumes of poetry by Denmark's all-time best selling poet, Benny Andersen and the memoir Dependency by Tove Ditlevsen which is the first Penguin Classic by a Danish author in over fifty years. His first book of poetry, Who has time for this? was published in 2019. His two poetry collections, Small Sovereign and Slow Phoenix, are forthcoming in 2021.
